Dentist Near Dellwood MN | Ensuring Your Safety During COVID-19 (Part 2)
At Birch Lake Dental, we are committed to keeping you safe during the COVID-19 pandemic while we take care of your oral health. Here is part 2 of the steps we are taking to keep us all safe and healthy while you visit our clinic for your regular dental appointments this year: dentist near Dellwood MN
Proper Ventilation Systems
We know that proper ventilation is one way to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19. Our dental clinic in Dellwood MN is equipped with a MERV 13 hospital grade HEPA air filter, UV light air treatment system, and an IWaveair purification unit. This allows us to ensure good air quality and flow, reducing risk for viral transmission through the air. We have also had the air flow and quality tested, and plan to continually monitor it throughout the next few months. We also use special continuous high vacuum suction apparatuses when treating our patients, which collect more than 90% of aerosols and mean that there is minimized risk of viral transmission from patients to our staff, even while patients are not wearing face coverings during treatment.
Requiring PPE for Patients and Staff
We require all staff and patients in the clinic to be wearing face coverings at all time. Research shows that face coverings are an effective way to reduce transmission of the COVID-19 virus and minimize risk of contracting it, particularly when social distancing is enforced as well. While we just request that our patients put on and wear a proper face covering before entering the clinic, our team of Dellwood dentists will be fitted in extensive personal protective equipment that additionally adheres to guidelines set by the CDC and other organizations.
Rinsing with Hydrogen Peroxide
Lastly, we request that all our patients over the age of 10 rinse their mouths with hydrogen peroxide before beginning treatment. Hydrogen peroxide can be found in mouthwashes, and helps to kill viral particles, such as from the coronavirus. This extra layer of safety will help protect your dentist and prevent the spread of COVID-19 from your saliva. Even when you’re not at the dentist, rinsing with a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide can kill the COVID-19 virus in your mouth and help to prevent oral transmission of the virus.
